    The NMSU Bearcats compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association of the NCAA. Intercollegiate teams include baseball, cross country, football, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball. In 2005, NMSU had nine members of its baseball team named on the MIAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The track & field program has produced the record-making shot put thrower and winner of three discuss titles at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Clint Prange. Since 1980 the Bearcat Hall of Fame has inducted more than seventy individuals whose collegiate and professional athletic achievements make them stand out among all former Bearcat student athletes. Thirty teams have also been recognized in the Hall of Fame, including the 1996 Bearcat football team (inducted in 2003).

    Northwest Missouri State University is an NCAA Division II School. Teams compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, tennis, and track & field. Women’s sports include basketball, cross country, softball, soccer, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. The sports teams are supported by a spirit squad, which includes a dance team and a co-educational cheerleading team. The team nick-name is the Bearcats.

    Athletic facilities at Northwest Missouri State University include an aquatic center, tennis courts, a gymnasium, a football stadium and track, baseball and softball fields, and a gymnasium.

    Among the championships and awards that Northwest Missouri State University has received are numerous All-Conference awards for individual athletes, national tournament play in women’s tennis and outdoor track & field, and conference tournament play in baseball and softball.
